Owners of farms and stable yards are being warned to check their security following an increase in thefts of trailers from Abbots Langley, Kings Langley and Nash Mills.
Police believe a 4x4 vehicle is being used to commit the crimes with the offenders are cutting through fencing to get to these items.
Horse trailers, flat-bed trailers, ride-on lawnmowers and small plant machinery are proving particularly popular with any of the crimes have taken place during the day.
PC Vanessa Hayward-Ralphs said: "Please make sure all trailers are secured correctly for example with a wheel clamp, and that if they are stored in barns or outbuildings that these outbuildings are also locked and secured. "
