More than 100 people had tamper-proof number plate screws fitted to their cars as part of a drive to reduce vehicle crime.
The South Oxhey safer neighbourhood team organised the event which took place at the Esso Service Station in Sandy Lane, Northwood on Saturday.
Halfords employees fitted more than 100 vehicles with free tamper-proof number plate screws, which prevent number plates from being stolen.
PC Emma Baker said: "We believe that criminals are stealing number plates to avoid paying for fuel, to disguise vehicles in order to avoid ANPR cameras, and to commit serious crimes.
"By securing your numbers plates its makes it harder for criminals to steal. In the past month nearly 200 vehicles have had their number plates secured.
"We’re keen to make Three Rivers a hostile area for criminals."
The screws were funded by the Three Rivers Community Safety Partnership. Drivers were also offered advice on vehicle security by the neighbourhood team officers.
