A row over car park land between the developer of Watford historic Sun Clock Tower and Watford Borough Council has moved into the court room.

Stuart Taylor, who is looking at renovating the dilapidated landmark in Ascot Road and converting it into offices, was at Watford County Court with solicitors from the council on Thursday.

The case was adjourned until August 21 when the dispute will be heard before a circuit judge.

The argument arose between Mr Taylor and the council when he started work on the regeneration project earlier this year.

The council says he erected temporary fencing and is building part of the office car park on its land.

Mr Taylor has said the car park is vital to the viability of the scheme and the clock tower will be left in a derelict state without it.
