Watford’s elected mayor Dorothy Thornhill is more used to the robes of office than the ostentatious attire of pop diva Lady Gaga.

However the mayor swapped her usual trappings for those of the global mega star to take to the stage at the Watford 2012 community event, in Knutsford playing fields, on Saturday.

Mayor Thornhill strutted to Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance as the climax of a fashion show, in which youngsters dressed a pop stars.

She appeared alongside the chief executive of the Watford Community Housing Trust , Tina Barnard, who dressed as veteran pop singer Cher.

More than 2,500 residents gathered the fields off Radlett Road, to celebrate Watford 2012 festival, hosted by Watford Community Housing Trust.

As well as the fashion show there were rides, face painting, demonstrations from martial arts clubs and 50 stalls from community groups and charities offering food from around the world.

Ms Barnard said: “The day has been a complete success and we hope everyone who attended enjoyed it as much as we did”.
