A man was dragged to the ground and beaten up after having a brick thrown at his van in a random attack in Croxley Green.
The incident happened at about 11.15am on Tuesday, January 24, near the Harvester on Watford Road.
As he was driving, the man noticed two young men walking on the path, who began gesturing at him with their hands.
The man, who asked not to be named, said: “I carried on driving and ignored the young men, and then then heard a thud. They had thrown a brick at my van.
“I stopped my vehicle and left the drivers seat to ask what on earth they were doing, I did not recognise these men nor was there any reason for this violent.
“As soon as I had left the vehicle the men had knocked me to the ground and punched me, running away leaving me laying on the floor, with head and eye injuries.”
The two men were described as white, in their late teens or early 20s, and with short dark hair and dark clothes.
The man said:“I am completely and utterly horrified at these actions, after living in Rickmansworth and Croxley Green all my life, I have never seen or tolerated this kind of behaviour.
“This has devastated me and my family.”
After visiting Watford General Hospital and giving a statement to the police, the man was referred to the specialist eye department for his injuries.
The man, who asked not to be named, said: “I moved to the area to pursue my dream of living within a close community where the rates of crime are fairly low, and looking to spend some quality years with my new grandson surrounded by local friends and family.
“This dream has simply been shattered.”
