A woman struggled with a would-be thief after he attempted to snatch her handbag in Watford.
Police said the 23-year-old victim from Watford, was walking along Stamford Road at around 10.20pm on Thursday when she was approached by a man.
A struggle ensued after which the man ran off towards St Albans Road.
The victim was left injured by the ordeal.
The suspect is described as Asian in his 30s and between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 10ins tall.
He was said to be of a slim to medium build and wearing dark clothing.
Assistant Investigator Elaine Counsell said: “A man named John stopped to help the lady and I would like him to contact me to give details of what he may have seen.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw what happened or who saw the offender running from the scene.”
