A Rickmansworth businessman walked away from his job as a managing director in the telecoms industry to set up a catering company.
Michael Baldwin, who is the son of a Smithfield market meat trader, and the brother of a butcher, was inspired to go it alone after one too many boring sandwiches.
The owner of The GreenWin Catering Company said: “I was sitting in an ordinary, faceless, usually cream coloured boardroom listening to a presentation on correct grammar in project management.
“Lunch arrived, but alas spread out before me was the usual mix of uninspiring sandwich fodder. The old adage of ‘I could do better’ suddenly came to mind.
“I wasn’t worried about having enough experience, with a family such as mine I was use to mass catering and flamboyant dinner parties.”
