Students from Kings Langley School are set to rock the Watford Peace Hospice’s Strictly Come Hospice competition, with a special performance.

They will present a scaled down version of their 2012 Rock Challenge entry “Swift as a Shadow, Short as any Dream”, based on William Shakespeare's play a Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The Rock Challenge is organised by UK charity Be Your Best Foundation, with the aim of promoting education, health and citizenship among teenagers.

Participants must, through team work, plan an eight-minute performance around a theme of their choice.

Designed to showcase pupils’ drama and dance skills, students from the school based in Love Lane have taken part in the international competition for the past ten years.

And last year students proved triumphant as they were presented with the People’s Choice Award at the Global Rock Challenge.

On Friday, February 17, they will be joined by Rock Choir and Moonglow dance school at Watford Colloseum for the show.

After weeks of rehearsing, a number of couples from across the county will also put on their dance shoes and battle to be crowned Strictly Come Hospice champions at the event.

Cash raised from the show will go to the Watford Peace Hospice, which provides free care for people living with terminal illness and supports their families.

The organisation provides inpatient care, day care, an outpatient service, a hospice at home service as well as bereavement support.

It relies on donations and needs to raise three million pounds in order to run and develop its services.

This will be the final time that the fundraising event, now in its fifth year, will be held.

Proceedings start from 7.30pm and tickets cost £20, concessions: £15.
