Hertfordshire Constabulary is looking for 150 volunteers to become special constables this year.
A special constable has the same powers, uniform and protective equipment as a regular officer but are not paid.
David Tewkesbury, special chief constable, said: “Specials are an incredibly valuable resource to the constabulary.”
Anyone wanting to join the 400 specials currently serving in the county should be 18 or over, and be able to give at least 16 hours a month of free time.
