A man has been assaulted by a knife-wielding assailant while walking through north Watford with his girlfriend.

Police said the 29-year-old victim heard footsteps behind him while on Windsor Road at 11.25pm on Friday January 6.

He was then grabbed by another man who pressed something to his chest.

Hertfordshire constabulary said the victim then hit out at his assailant, causing him to drop a small knife, which he then picked up before running off.

The victim was left uninjured by the attack.

Police are looking to talk to the suspect who is described as a white man in his early to mid-20s, with and around 5ft 9ins tall. He had short blond hair and was wearing a black jacket with white trainers.
