A pub in Watford has donated a large painting of popular cartoon characters to a children’s hospital ward.
Staff at The Horns, in Hempstead Road, decided to donate the large painting to the Starfish Ward at Watford General Hospital.
Keith Liberty, the pub’s cleaner and part-time art teacher at Harrow College, created the piece of art for the pub’s New Year’s Eve party. He said: “I really enjoyed doing it so it is great to get some more use out of it.
“If it brightens the place up a little bit then that’s great."
After the party, staff at the pub didn’t know what to do with the popular piece of work until manager Jane Giles came up with the idea to donate it.
She said: “We had this amazing piece and we were, like, ‘what do we do with it?’ “I just thought of kids - I thought wouldn’t that be great on a kid’s bedroom wall?
“I thought it would be a really nice thing to do. They are going to have fun looking at it.”
