The history of South Oxhey will soon be available to residents and schoolchildren, thanks to a grant from Hertfordshire County Council.
Three Rivers Museum Trust has been awarded £1,000 from the council’s locality budget.
The museum has carried out extensive research into the social and economic history of South Oxhey and the money will go towards the cost of printing the information in a book. It is believed the history of South Oxhey has never previously been researched and documented in such detail.
Copies of the book will be made available at no cost to schools in the South Oxhey area and in the library. In addition, a copy will be held in the museum archives for reference purposes and will be available for visiting members of the public to buy.
Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire.
