An open evening for Hertsmere residents interested in becoming local councillors has sparked relatively high levels of interest according to the council.
The authority is looking to attract people from groups who are underrepresented in the council, mainly young people and women, to become candidates for the forthcoming elections in May.
The open evening, at the Civic Offices in Elstree Way, Borehamwood at 6pm, will be a chance for people to see what councillors do and the skills required for the role.
Those willing to become a councillor must meet criteria including being aged 18 and above, a British, Commonwealth or EU citizen and a registered voter in Hertsmere.
To book a place at the open evening, email wrox.rehill@hertsmere.gov.uk or call 020 8207 7423.
