A home for blind children in Northwood has been given an 'Outstanding' grade in a recent Ofsted inspection.
RNIB Sunshine House Children's Home in Northwood has been awarded the highest rating the schools' inspectorate gives.
Kate Tinkler, manager at Sunshine House, said: "We are extremely pleased that the hard work and commitment from everyone, in creating such a supportive and specialised environment for our children and young people, has been recognised."
The report for Sunshine House said that “young people are thriving in this very focused and well managed service”.
Sally Harvey, group director for independent living at RNIB, added: "We are delighted with the news and send our congratulations to all the staff and managers who work tirelessly towards attaining and maintaining these high standards."
Everyday about 100 people in the UK start to lose their sight and there are about two million people in the UK with sight problems.
The Royal National Institute for the Blind works to ensure that blind and partially sighted children and adults, including those with additional, can live to their full potential.
It provides support, advice and information for parents, carers and professionals as well as delivering specialist residential care, education and work related training within our schools and College.
