A Council Tax precept of £564,000 for the next financial year has been agreed by Abbots Langley Parish Council, an increase of 0.90257 per cent.
According to last year’s budget figures, the precept was £558,955, but this has risen by £5,045.
Despite this increase, council tax for Band D properties will remain the same at £68.10.
At a meeting of the parish council on Monday evening, Vice-Chairman Councillor Keith Williams, praised council staff for “keeping costs down and generating more income”, helping to boost the council’s coffers.
The Liberal Democrat representative, said: “The good work done by the committees in paring down their budgets, the good work done by officers in running the council prudently over the last year has enabled a surplus to be created. “These two actions, together with an increase in the overall band d base; means I am able to recommend to Council a precept of £564,000; or no increase in the council tax that Parishioners in Abbots Langley Parish will pay in their council tax bills.
“This budget will enable the council to continue to deliver the high quality services that parishioners have come to expect from this Council; with sufficient designated and free reserves for future contingencies. “ Key projects the council has delivered or will be delivering this year include:
- The new Tanners Wood Hall
- Refurbishment of the multi use games area at Manor House
- New boilers in both Henderson and Manor House Hall
- By the end of the year, and in conjunction with colleagues at Three Rivers Council hopefully, work will have commenced on major refurbishments of the South Way and Langleybury Playgrounds and the new allotments at Primrose Hill.
- Routine events the parish council puts on in conjunction with partners such as the Carnival, Fireworks, Christmas lights and Carol concert.
