A hard-working pharmacist from Moor Park has been awarded the MBE.
Lila Thakerar qualified as a pharmacist in 1979 and went on to buy her own community pharmacy in Harrow. She set out to provide care and expertise for each patient, investing in consultation rooms, pregnancy testing and privately screened areas.
Ms Thakerar, from Wolsey Road, said said “Words can hardly describe how honoured and I am to be recognised in this way. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that an ordinary community pharmacist, just helping people in need could be recognised in this way.
“I’m absolutely thrilled and want to thank everyone who has supported me and made my work possible.”
Ms Thakerar is also charter vice president of the Lions Club in Loudwater and Rickmansworth, and has worked tirelessly to raise money for charity.
Dilip Manek, former president, said: “Those of us who know Lila know how selfless she is within the local area. She has been a valuable asset working with us at our community Lions Club of Loudwater and Rickmansworth club which does such rewarding work for the local community.
“We are truly proud to have a member who has gained such wonderful recognition which is among the first for our Lions.”
