A diner had her phone stolen after being approached by two men while eating in a restaurant in Watford town centre.
The 22-year-old victim was sat at a table in L’artista, in The Parade, at around 4.25pm on Saturday when one of the men came up to her and begged her for some food.
Police said a second man then removed her phone while she was distracted and the pair were seen running away down the High Street.
PC Mohamed Huzair, who is investigating, said: “At this time of the day I am sure there will have been people around who would have seen these offenders run from the scene. “If you were in the area and can help please contact police.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Huzair via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number C1/12/135.
Alternatively Crimestoppers can be telephoned anonymously on 0800 555 111.
