RESIDENTS will have their final chance to see what a potential £5m revamp of Cassiobury Park would look like this month.

Watford Borough Council has set up a display at the town hall outlining exactly what it plans to do in the multi-million pound makeover.

The authority is currently bidding for a substantial Heritage Lottery Fund grant to fund the project.

The display will be available to view in the Customer Service Centre from 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday until the end of January.

Among a host of proposed improvements for the park is the return of the bandstand, an overhaul of the popular paddling pools, improved car parking and a new visitor centre which will include an education community room, catering facilities, toilets and changing facilities.

If the bid is successful the council’s park ranger service would also manage the park from the new visitor centre, the "Park Hub", which would replace the five current "tired" buildings by the paddling pools.

From there, a new education officer would also work with local schools to develop outreach work in the park and Whippendell Wood.

There are also plans to modernise Café Cha Cha Cha, the park’s entrance at Shepherds Road as well as the main Rickmansworth Road entrance with the creation of an entrance feature.

The council said it was keen to hear feedback from residents on the project.

Paul Rabbitts from Watford Borough Council says: “We know Cassiobury Park is a much loved park. If the bid is successful, we can restore parts of the historic landscape and enhance the facilities.

“We’d like to know your views on the proposals and also find out the reasons you visit the park, as well as what events and activities you would like to see there.”
