Warner Bros, which is set to open its Harry Potter attraction in Abbots Langley in March, has been named the UK’s number one film studio for the second year in a row.
The studios have been given the accolade following record box office revenues.
Making a considerable contribution to the company’s 2011 success was the eighth and final movie in the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, filmed at Leavesden Studios.
Further pictures set to be produced in the UK include Wrath of the Titans, Dark Shadows, Gravity and Jack the Giant Killer.
Parts of Wrath of the Titans was filmed at Leavesden Studios.
Representatives from the company said theyare looking forward to the much anticipated opening of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter.
Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden will be a permanent UK film production base for the company and will open later in the summer.
Josh Berger, president and managing director, Warner Bros. UK, Ireland and Spain, said: “With the opening of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and a burgeoning UK film, TV and games production slate, 2012 represents a watershed moment for the company.
“Warner Bros. will undoubtedly be making a greater contribution to the UK’s economic and cultural landscape than ever before.”
Towards the end of December last year, London Mayor Boris Johnson, alongside his two daughters, took the opportunity to visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter.
Clearly impressed by the sets, the Conservative representative said at the time: “It is very mind-expanding to see the reality, to see what you can do with film. I think it will encourage young people to want to get involved in film.
“It is unbelievably lifelike and there is incredible attention to detail.
“People are going to come from all over the world.
“It is going to add to London’s tourist offering."
The unique walking tour will give visitors the opportunity to explore behind the scenes and to see the sheer scale and detail of the sets, costumes, props and special effects from all eight of the record breaking films.
