Scores of people in Bricket Wood are facing a second consecutive night without electricity after falling trees destroyed power line yesterday.
UK Power Networks said repair worker reconnected around 100 homes earlier today but had to disconnect them again after a problem was found with the replacement cabling.
The power company said its team would work round the clock to restore power but could not say when electricity would come back on.
Phil Spiby, a spokesman for the company, said: “We had 102 homes reconnected but had to take them off again to restore repairs.
“That was because where the particular repairs were it was not holding and we had to take them off again so we could work in safety.”
Meanwhile Red Cross teams are visiting people in the village with hot drinks and checking older residents are okay.
More than 1,000 homes lost power on Thursday after high winds toppled three trees onto power cables.
Most of the households had power restored to them by 2am this morning.
