Newly painted road markings which have been confusing motorists at a busy roundabout between Watford and Bushey are to be redone.

Hertforshire County Council said contractors will be repainting the arrows on Hartspring Lane, coming up to the juncture with the A41 North Western Avenue.

Drivers have complained that the markings, which were painted before Christmas, are unclear and make accidents more likely.

In each of the road's two lanes there are arrows indicating to motorists to go straight on as well as that the lane is right or left turn only.

A Hertfordshire Highways spokesperson said: “Contractors working on behalf of Hertfordshire Highways will be on site in Hartspring lane on Tuesday 10 January to reinstate the three lane markings.

“We apologise for any confusion the new markings may have caused motorists."
