Dozens of Christmas trees met their maker in a Bushey car park this afternoon as people took their surplus festive foliage to be shredded.
Hertsmere Council organised its garden maintenance contractors to set up in Kemp Place where residents took their unwanted trees to be destroyed between 11am and 2pm.
Many households began throwing out their trees on what many believe is the deadline for taking down Christmas decorations.
The chippings from this and other shredding sessions in Hertsmere will be used in flower beds across the borough.
