Holidays in foreign climes were central to the latest meeting of Abbots Langley Flower Arrangement Society.
Guest speaker Vikki Traherne presented a talk entitled “Florilegium”, describing colourful events in her life, to members at the Henderson Hall on Thursday, April 28.
These included a memory of a weekend, which was depicted by an urn containing palms, twisted willow, dogwood, white lilies, green hellebores, white roses and green carnations.
Next a “Continental Workshop” was in a shallow wooden box, filled with short canes bound with colourful decorative wool, red amaryllis, phormium, green roses, leucadedron and small red gerbera.
A visit to Spain was recreated using a wire stand decorated with two large fans, hosta leaves, red anthuriums, roses and twisted phormium, while an Egyptian sunset was remembered by a flat dish filled with protea, red anthuriums and cream roses trimmed with pink.
The Abbots Langley Flower Arrangement Society will host its next demonstration on Thursday, May 26, at the Henderson Hall, Abbots Langley.
Guest speaker Carol Johnston will present a talk on “Blank Canvas”.
