A “party atmosphere” filled a Watford street this weekend following the success of a street party to celebrate the Royal wedding.
Ian Devan, one of the event organisers in Denmark Street, said he was “absolutely delighted” with the turnout.
Watford Mayor Dorothy Thornhill was among those who attended.
Ian said: “We were planning for 80-100 but we think during the day, over 300 were there. It was a huge turnout. We gave away 100 burgers and 100 hot dogs.
“Some people have said it now takes them half an hour to walk to the shops two minutes away because they’re always chatting to neighbours. We’ve had a party atmosphere in the street for the whole weekend.”
The street party, which continued into the early hours of Saturday morning, also raised £420 for the Peace Hospice.
Ian added: “It was about bringing the community together and we have achieved that so we’re very happy.”
