A dog rehoming shelter in Harefield has extended its opening hours, in an effort to find new new owners for homeless pets.
From May to late September, the Dogs Trust centre in Harvil Road will be open until 8pm every Thursday evening, to help people who cannot visit during working hours.
A pilot scheme run in two of the charity's centres has resulted in an extra dog per week rehomed over a six month period.
This equates to an extra 500 dogs nationally throughout the year.
Richard Moore, Dogs Trust Harefield manager, said: “We have dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes here, pedigrees and crossbreeds, and they’re all searching for their perfect match.
“We’re hoping that these extended opening hours will mean that more people consider paying us a visit after work.”
