Free bags of compost and kitchen caddies will be given away as Watford Borough Council supports Compost Awareness Week 2011.
Anyone who lives in Watford can visit the former Household Waste Recycling Centre site on Wiggenhall Road between 2pm and 7pm on Thursday May 12, to pick up a bag of compost.
Alan Gough, head of environmental services at Watford Borough Council, said: “This is a great opportunity to reward residents who recycle their green waste throughout the year.
“We will have information available about how to get started with home composting, and people can also collect a free kitchen caddy.”
Waste collected from green bins in Watford, including food scraps, cardboard, grass cuttings, paper and leaves, is taken to West London Composting to be turned into compost.
