A Rickmansworth bakery has created an edible monument to this year's royal wedding, complete with caricatures of the Queen and Prince Philip.

The eight-tier wedding cake is decorated with three generations of the royal family, constructed from sugarpaste, and can be seen in Cinnamon Square, Church Street.

At the top of the cake is Prince William, with his bride Kate Middleton, and decorating the layers lower down are Prince Charles, Camilla Parker-Bowles, and The Queen with Prince Philip.

Tricia Barker, Cinnamon Square owner, said: “We made the cake to celebrate the royal wedding whilst showcasing our skills. We’re delighted with it.

“With the exception of Kate Middleton, the members of the royal family on the cake have very distinctive features which gave us a lot of material to work with which is brilliant for modelling.

“Therefore, I guess Kate would be the most difficult for being simply too beautiful.”

The shop's bakery artists have previously created many other elaborate cakes, including designer handbags, a Ferrari and a huge pink castle – the future home of Kate and William.

The castle has 37 turrets, 51 windows and a garden covered in toadstools, and will hopefully be finished before the wedding on Friday.

The cakes will remain on display in the Cinnamon Square shops in Rickmansworth and Ruislip, before being updated for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next year.
