A man became trapped under a tree after it fell on him in a Watford garden this afternoon.
The victim, believed to be in his thirties, had been working on the large, dead tree, but was walking past it when it fell, pinning him to the floor.
Paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene, in Hampermill Lane, at about 3pm.
Crews from Watford Fire Station used inflatable air bags to prise the tree from the ground, while paramedics put the man's leg in a splint.
Solid blocks were inserted under the trunk once the air bags were inflated, to support it while the man was moved and taken to Watford General Hospital on a spinal board.
The extent of his injuries is not yet known, but he is not thought to be in a serious condition.
A specialist fire and rescue team was also dispatched from Hatfield, though it was not required.
