Firefighters from Watford Fire Station are holding a driving safety course for students at West Herts College, to tackle a growing number of teenage deaths on the road.
A group of 16 teenagers from West Herts College will attend the Lower Road station on May 11, 12, and 13, to be taught about motor vehicle accident prevention, and what happens in a car crash.
Jack Daw, safety co-ordinator for Watford, said: “We're targeting young drivers in an informative way to show them the dangers of driving.
“We're losing a lot of young lives in road accidents, as opposed to fires, and Watford has more than its share.”
As well as informative talks on road safety, the participants will also be able to attend a staged car crash and use specialist equipment to cut open a wrecked vehicle.
