Organisers of an annual charity 1940s weekend hailed the event as "the most successful yet".

The Lincolnsfields Family Forties experience, which took place on April 9 and 10, was attended by dozens of families who enjoyed a day out in the sun.

The two day event was based around the Lincolnsfields living history project and visitors got the chance to experience a 1940s house, Naffi cafe, Blitz experience and military museum.

There was also the chance for visitors to enjoy battle re-enactments, of Allied and German units, with all military equipment and transport.

Included in the day was a chance for visitors to visit the evacuee school with talks on the experience of living through the blitz.

Brian Linnegar, chair of the Lincolnsfields Children's Centre said: "The weekend was a mix of fun, education and entertainment set around the 1940s.

"The charity would like to thank all the people involved and, most importantly, the general public who attended and made all the hard work worth while."

Lincolnsfields Children's Centre is a charity that provides educational days giving an incite into life during the 1940s and the Second World War.

The weekend was also attended by the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Lord Charles Cecil, on his first official engagement, looking at the work of the charity.
