Flowers were in full bloom as Bovingdon and District Horticultural Society hosted their annual Spring Show.
Taking advantage of the sunny weather, visitors flocked to the village’s Memorial Hall to catch a glimpse of the blooms on display.
According to show secretary Pam Rose, there was an increase in the number of entries from last year, with more than 32 participants exhibiting 200 displays of flowers, paintings and art.
Describing the show on Saturday, April 9, she said: “It was a glorious day and the hall looked really lovely with all the spring flowers arrayed for judging and the sun streaming through the windows.
“The Daffodils and other spring flowers are the mainstay of our Spring Show, but the floral art, paintings and handicrafts were also hotly contested.
“The overall standard was impressively high.”
Winners of the show were as follows: •Regular exhibitor Brian Stewart achieved an outstanding 19 first places with his Daffodils, closely challenged by Gillian Johansson's 14.
•Mr Stewart also won the Wildacre Cup and Daffodil Society Medal.
•The handicraft section's Challenge Cup went to Shirley Masterson.
•Local artist Marion Perkins received the Pendley Estates Trophy in the painting section for her interpretation of 'The Wall.'
•Glenys Welstead was awarded a voucher, donated by local florists, for her winning entry in floral art, entitled 'St George's Day.'
