A post office, based in Bedmond, is to relocate along the High Street as part of a 12-month trial.
Following a public consultation, Post Office Limited today (Thursday) announced Bedmond Post Office in 57 High Street, Bedmond will be moving a few doors along to 61 High Street.
According to the company, this is because the current agent does not wish to continue running the post office.
The current branch will close on Wednesday, May 11 with the new branch opening, under a new agent, on Monday, May 16 at 6am.
As part of the consultation, customers had been asked to raise any concerns they had over the proposed service provision at the new branch.
According to the company, it received a very small number of comments from patrons and local representatives, all in support of the move as it will mean the continuation of the service in the village.
Valerie Antoine, spokeswoman for Post Office Limited, said: "We are confident that the new service is suitably located and will meet the needs of our customers in the local community.
“This move will secure Post Office services for our customers in Bedmond in the longer term.”
The new premises will have a newly formatted open-plan counter offering a range of Post Office products and services alongside retail transactions, space for a wheelchair, and longer opening hours to include early mornings, evenings and Sundays.
The post office will also have level access with a wide door and there are plans to install an automatic door. Parking is available in the lay-by in front of the shop.
Throughout the 12-month trial, Post Office Limited will be monitoring the progress of the relocated service, to ascertain if it meets the needs of the local community.
The new service will operate Monday to Saturday 6am to 9pm and Sunday from 6am to 7pm.
During the short period of closure customers requiring Post Office facilities are asked to use their nearest branch: Abbots Langley Post Office, 42 High Street, ABBOTS LANGLEY WD5 0AR.
