Members of charitable organisation Watford Lions have celebrated their 41st Charter Anniversary in style, with a black tie dinner and disco.
On Saturday evening, Lions from St Albans, Tring, Watford, Berkhamsted, Bletchley-Milton Keynes, Harpenden, Hemel Hempstead and Boscombe, gathered together at the Park Inn in Watford to mark the annual event.
They were joined by special guests District Governor Elect Andrew Allen and Watford Borough Council Chairman Alan Burtenshaw.
Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner of mushroom soup or prawn cocktail, roast beef or salmon, spotted dick or raspberry and white chocolate bavarois, while Raymond’s Roadshow provided the music.
After the meal, toasts to the Queen and Lions Clubs International were proposed by Lion President Michael Chapple, followed by club secretary Cheryl Peacock, who kept the audience entertained with a rousing speech.
Remarking on the event, Mr Chapple said: “It was a very successful evening for the Lions Club and a great way to mark Watford’s 41st Charter Anniversary.
“We were particularly honoured to have Watford Chairman Alan Burtenshaw present along with District Governor Elect Andrew Allen.
“DJ Raymond kept the dance floor buzzing and we received many complimentary remarks from our 84 guests, who I believe enjoyed the whole evening.
“I would like to give my thanks to everyone for their support and for making the charter dinner a roaring success.”
