Television presenter Eamonn Holmes visited a dog kennels in Harefield yesterday as part of its fifth birthday celebrations.
Dogs Trust West London, in Harvil Road, has found a home for 5,000 canines since it opened in 2006.
One of its more famous former residents, Barney, was given to Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton and has since appeared on the popular children's show.
Manager Richard Moore said: “The support we’ve received from the local community over the past five years has been incredibly heart-warming. It’s been a pleasure to match so many lovely dogs with fabulous families.
"We’re all looking forward to the next five years and finding forever homes for even more marvellous mutts.”
Eamonn Holmes, joined by fellow presenters Jacquie Beltrao and Charlotte Hawkins, dished up a dog treat birthday cake for some of the residents.
