Crime in Kings Langley has almost doubled according to figures revealed by police.
At last night’s meeting of the village’s parish council, PC Johanna Stuart described how 21 incidents were reported for the month of March, ten more than for February.
Of these crimes eight were damage and destruction to the value of £5,000, four were theft from a motor vehicle and two were drug related.
With regard to burglary, the Canoe Club in Nash Mills had three canoes stolen, which were later recovered, but police revealed no arrests have been made.
Spar in Kings Langley High Street was also burgled, as was the local dentist.
PC Stuart said: “The four motor crimes were to do with catalytic converters being stolen from cars.
“It is very rare to catch these people in the act, door-to-door information is really what we rely on.
“But then again, the chances of anyone seeing anything is rare.
“This is a county-wide problem we are trying to tackle.”
