Children at a Radlett primary school will be given a new outdoor play area after a £10,000 National Lottery grant.
Combined with a £23,000 contribution from the parent teacher association, the cash will be used to build an large adventre centre at Newberries Primary School, in Newberries Avenue.
The plans include meadowland, which will encourage butterflies, woodland, including a bug zone, a log circle for storytelling, and a fenced pond area.
Headteacher Ness Peters said: "I feel like the school has won the lottery. While the school has large grounds at the moment, the children aren't able to go on the grass in the winter as it is so muddy, so they are squashed onto a small playground. The new junior play area will provide more space for the children to play all year round."
The plans have been drawn up over the past year after discussions with pupils, teachers, parents and governors.
Work is expected to last three weeks and will take place during the Easter holidays.
