Dozens of computers containing personal information have been locked inside a repair shop after it closed six weeks ago, say customers.
A group of 18 customers met outside Computer Corner, in Prestwick Road, in South Oxhey, yesterday, hoping to find out what had happened to their laptops and PCs.
They say they have not been able to contact the owner for more than a month.
Businessman Mick Ellis said two of his computers were inside the shop, full of accounting information about his two roofing companies.
He said: “He's got a lot of people's computers in there and he hasn't opened up for five or six weeks. You can't walk around the precinct with someone saying they've got a laptop in there.
“There are a lot of disgruntled people trying to get their stuff back, we've tried desperately to get hold of him."
Nicola Lawrence from Hertfordshire Constabulary said 15 people had reported the situation to the police.
However, the police said no crime has taken place as he has not refused to give the equipment back.
The group were referred to the Citizen's Advice Bureau for further advice.
The owner of Computer Corner was contacted by the Watford Observer, but declined to comment.
