Rubbish dumped along the A41 is being cleared by Dacorum Borough Council, as part of a litter pick campaign.
Over the course of this week, the council’s Clean Safe and Green teams will be collecting bulky rubbish that has been thrown from vehicles, fallen from insecure lorry loads or dumped.
The clear-up, which started yesterday, is expected to continue for eight days.
So far 0.5 tonnes of litter has been gathered from A41 slip roads and junctions.
The central reservation will be cleared later in the summer to co-ordinate with grass cutting by Hertfordshire County Council.
Six tones of litter including mattresses and car bonnets were collected in the last major clean up of the A41 in 2009.
