A memorial commemorating those who sacrificed their lives for their country was given a make-over by a Croxley Green business this afternoon.
The Croxley Green War Memorial was cleaned in preparation for next week's remembrance services, funded by Co-operative Funeral Care, in New Road.
Funeral administrator Ray Baxter says he organised the clean-up, costing £1,057, to help “bring the community together on such an important day”.
Mr Baxter, who is also chairman of Croxley Green Royal British Legion, said: “As a Croxley resident I looked at the situation with the war memorial and thought it was a nice area where we could do something to benefit the community.
"I spoke with members of Croxley Green Parish Council who were happy for us to undertake the work if we could fund it.
"It is something we wanted to do as it will now be a much nicer memorial when we have the service next week.”
A Remembrance Day service will take place in Croxley Green on Sunday, November 14th.
A parade is due to form in Yorke Road, at about 1.30pm, which will then march along The Green to All Saints Church for the service.
At about 3.15pm, the parade will march back along The Green to the war memorial for the laying of wreaths - all are welcome to attend.
