MEMBERS of a Bushey church transformed their hall into a mini-market today to raise cash for homeless children in India.
Volunteers packed into St Andrew's Methodist Church, in High Road, this morning for the day of fundraising ahead of their harvest festival service tomorrow.
The church's efforts will support SNEHA, a shelter in Bangalore for poverty-stricken children living on the streets.
Heather Turner, one of the organisers, thanked everyone for their support. She said: “It went very well, there were lots of people and a lovely atmosphere – full of life.
“We came to support the charity after hearing a talk from its founders about what they do and it was so inspiring. They give shelter to the children in the slums, feed and educate them.”
As well as the mini-market, which was selling a range of things from homemade cakes to jewellery a coffee morning was held.
A total of £450 was raised and Mrs Turner said it is expected more will be gathered tomorrow.
