Girls from the Bushey Guides kick-started a fundraising mission today for cash to fit a new kitchen at their hall.
Stalls were set up outside the Tesco supermarket in Watford selling homemade cakes and biscuits.
The Guides and Brownies have come together sporting a pirate theme in a bid to attract the attention of generous shoppers who were urged to dig deep to support their cause.
Vivien Hewett, who has been involved with the Bushey Guides for the last 40 years, said the kitchen, at the Falconer Road hall, is in desperate need of an upgrade.
She added: “We don't actually have a quote yet on how much it's going to cost but it could be in the region of £5,000.
“This is the first fundraiser we have held so far and hopefully we'll have the chance to organise more for the near future.
“We've recently had the hall re-painted with money we had raised ourselves and the next project is the kitchen.”
Vivien added the guides and brownies who have gathered today are enjoying the fundraising.
Ellie Manning, 12, said: “The kitchen is quite tired and it's in need of a new one. It's great being here to see everyone but you also know that you are doing something good to help out.”
