Teenagers and children across Dacorum are to celebrate a week dedicated to democracy.
Organised by Dacorum Borough Council, this year’s Local Democracy Week will be marked with a series of events.
Kicking off with Youth Action Regeneration Day on Monday, October 11, participants will find out about the council's ongoing regeneration work.
They will also go for a walk around Hemel Hempstead town centre with local councillors, looking for things that can be improved.
On Wednesday evening, Hemel Hempstead Youth Council will be giving a presentation to local councillors and senior officers from the borough council, telling them about issues faced by young people in the borough.
Adeyfield school pupils will be holding a vote to decide on a project to put forward at the Adeyfield Action - You Choose event on Thursday.
The next day, Local Democracy Day will be held at Hemel Hempstead Civic Centre.
Pupils from local schools will be taking part in a variety of activities including a democracy quiz and a Question Time panel with MPs, borough and parish councillors, and senior managers from the council.
Councillor Andrew Williams, leader of the council, said: "Local Democracy Week is a good way for young people to find out about how local government works.
“It's also a valuable opportunity for them to tell us what they think about the way things are run, and for us to find out about the issues that really matter to them."
