Bushey residents have raised nearly £600 for charity in one hour through a coffee morning and raffle at a church hall.
Organisers Cindy Kurlansky and Helen Goldberg both lost friends to cancer earlier this year and decided to organise a coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event, held at St Peter's Church, in High Road, between 11am and midday on Wednesday, and attracted more than 50 people who raised £585.
Mrs Kurlansky, 72, said: “We had a fantastic day – it was brilliant. The exercise classes in another part of the hall came and joined us when they were finished and the generosity of everyone can be seen by the total we raised.”
