Roads in Abbots Langley will be closed for more than three weeks as vital maintenance works are carried out.
Part of Gallows Hill and Station Road will remain shut overnight as Hertfordshire County Council workers upgrade the traffic lights under the railway bridge.
Works are currently taking place and will continue until October 29, from 8pm to 5am.
A signed diversion route through Home Park Mill Link Road, A4251 Watford Road, A41 Watford Road, Bridge Road, Hunton Bridge Hill, Hamilton Road and Gallows Hill, is currently in place.
Jo Brown, spokeswoman for the council, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience these essential maintenance works may cause and advise drivers to allow extra time for their journeys.”
Further drainage works in Gallows Hill Lane and Popes Road are scheduled during that period, from October 24, but the council could not confirm when this would be completed.
