A police officer who has patrolled the streets of Kings Langley for the past eight years, bade farewell to his role as PC yesterday evening.
Although PC Nik Pringle officially retired on Sunday, October 3, he decided to attend one last engagement - the Kings Langley Parish Council meeting.
Presented with a rotary wrist watch and a card by members of the council, PC Pringle, who has served in the Hertfordshire Constabulary for more than 30 years, remarked fondly on his time serving the village.
He said: “It has been a very interesting eight years serving Kings Langley, but it is a fabulous village to have worked in.
“There have been some ups and downs, but I am sure all of you here would agree that we have always worked to the same end.
“It has been wonderful to have been involved in some of the many great events organised in the village.”
Mr Pringle will still be a regular face in Kings Langley as he takes on the job of special constable.
Councillor Bob McLean, chairman of the parish council and conservative representative, said: “We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the success in your new role.
“You have made a huge difference to the village, especially in terms of crime rates – they have fallen dramatically.
“Thank you for everything you have done.”
The retired police officer revealed that PCSO Leslie Kirkpatrick, supported by PC Amanda Lee, would continue to attend Kings Langley Parish Council meetings, but his position was still vacant.
