Pupils from Watford Grammar School for Girls have won the chance to see an exclusive screening of a brand new film.
Students, staff and parents from the school, in Lady's Close, will fill Watford's Vue Cinema to watch a special preview of Africa United.
Watford Girls' is one of only five schools in the country to be selected for the sneak preview before the film's general release later this month.
Africa United is the story of three children from Rwanda and their bid to take part in the opening ceremony of the 2010 World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa.
This opportunity came through its membership of the Global Student Forum, which aims to enable young people to explore development issues and their own role as “global citizens”.
And the school is using the screening to raise money for the charity War Child, which works to protect children in areas affected by conflicts.
Representatives from the charity will speak to the audience before the film is shown on Monday.
Sue Edwards, head of geography at Watford Girls', said: “We will be following this up in school in terms of activities, and girls from the Sixth Form will also be doing assemblies for other pupils.”
Peter Reynolds Coaches have offered to take the pupils to the cinema free of charge.
