A new project to install energy saving solar panels has begun in Radlett.
Residents of Phillimore Court have had 60 panels installed, which will provide free electricity to the sheltered accommodation's communal meeting area.
Project operators Eaga, in conjunction with housing association Affinity Sutton, said it should help 32 residents save money on their service charges.
Pensioner Stuart Freedman, who has lived at Phillimore Court for more than eight years, said: “Anything that helps save money and is good for the environment has my support, so I think it's great to have electricity provided by these solar panels.”
Eaga Director, Alan Ring, said: “This is the first time we have installed a solar energy system like this for sheltered housing units. We estimate the system should help cut energy costs for the communal area by up to £700 a year – savings that can be passed on to the residents.”
