The British Council has awarded a school in Abbots Langley with a prestigious prize.
Breakspeare School in Gallows Hill Lane has been presented with the “International School Award” in recognition of its work to bring the wider world into the classroom.
Accredited along with 982 schools across the county, the prize further seeks to celebrate, develop, recognise and accredit outstanding practice in teaching and learning as well as fostering international relations between schools.
Gill Williamson, head teacher said: “I am very pleased and proud to be able to say I am head of an international school.
“I particularly want to thank our international coordinator, Darren White who worked hard to organise an impressive range of school activities.
“The school really benefits from the links we have formed with special schools in South Africa and Russia. We have a lot to learn from each other.”
The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.
