Plans to extend a guide hut in Kings Langley have been submitted to Dacorum Borough Council.
The single storey extension of Kings Langley Girl Guiding Hut, in Blackwell Road, will improve the size of the current kitchen and make room for a store room as well as a disabled toilet.
The cost of the build is estimated by members to cost about £20,000 for the 22-square-metre extension.
Proposals were sent in by Brian Branwhite Surveyors, and a decision is expected in November.
Trefoil Guild member Audrey Burnam, of Nash Mills, has been part of guiding for more than 45 years and regularly attends Kings Langley girl guiding meetings.
Describing how the extension would enhance facilities, she said: “When I first came to the hut over 30 years ago, it literally was a hut.
“But over the years we’ve raised money to modernise it into this great little building – it is used by a local playgroup in the morning and the girls in the evenings.
“We are constantly seeking to improve the hut for the girls and this extension will be the cherry on the top.”
