Horse riders from across the county enjoyed glorious sunshine this morning as they tackled a tricky cross-country obstacle course for charity.
Riders of all ages and abilities came together at the Great Westwood Equestrian Park, in Old House Lane, Langleybury, for the annual Watford Lions Sponsored Obstacle Horse Ride.
The fundraising event, which has been running for more than 35 years, raises money for the Riding for the Disabled Association, which promotes equestrian sport for wheelchair users.
Sponsored riders, including five-year-old Jacob Couldridge, tackled 75 jumps over a gentle 3.2 mile course.
Lions Chairman Michael Chapple explained why the event was so important. He said: “Horse riding provides freedom for disabled people.
It gets them up out of their wheelchairs and allows them to see the world from another point of view.”
Awards will be presented later on for the best presented horse and the most sponsored riders in both the over 16s and under 16s categories
